Transport
In an economic environment where globalization
is a given, we decided several years
ago that we would ship containers en
route to our customers ourselves. We
wanted to provide the best service
by controlling as many links in the
logistics chain as we could. This additional
service is provided between our upstream
Overseas activities, and our downstream
European distribution. We can pack
and unpack containers at our sites,
and also store Customs-bonded goods.
The significant growth of imports,
and the congestion of ports and road
networks means that the system for
forwarding containers inland requires
careful consideration. Thus in 2004
we created the SNTC (Société Nogentaise
de Transport Combiné – Nogent
Combined Transport Company), in partnership
with Soufflet, the food and agri-business
company, and the waterway carrier Scat.
SNTC forwards containers by waterway
between Le Havre and Nogent sur Seine
and manages a Multimodal platform.
As ecology, rightly, gains increasing
importance in our daily lives, we can
also offer you conventional transport
by waterway, in particular on the Seine.
People
and know-how:
STTI is not based particularly close
to a seaport, but over the years, it
has mastered the art of container transport.
Our business and our drivers are familiar
with practices and vocabulary which
until now, have been the preserve of
a few specialists.
SNTC manages the entire service, from
port handling, via waterway transport,
to final delivery.
Resources:
STTI has a fleet of a dozen container
chassis of different types, including
bi-train, detachable and standard chassis.
We also have two open boxes. This type
of semi-hybrid may be used both for
conventional tautliner transport and
for container transport. It also has
a system for attaching the onboard
forklift so we can unload a container
ourselves.
SNTC has a fleet of three boats with
capacities ranging from 66 to 72 TEU
to carry loads between 1,000 and 12,000
tonnes, a reach staker for a barge
and a platform with a storage capacity
of 400 TEU. Prices are very competitive.
Shipments:
STTI can tow containers both locally,
and to or from French and Belgian ports.
SNTC provides services along the route
Le Havre – Gennevilliers – Nogent
sur Seine following a defined time-table.
