Road Haulage >>> Transport with piggyback forklift truck

Several years ago, STTI developed a transport service including an on-board forklift truck. This was in response to the growing needs of customers who deliver to individuals with no handling equipment. Most of our deliveries comprise leisure products with high added value, such as swimming pools or pool accessories such as roller shutters and spas, etc. We manage dispatches once they leave our customers’ premises and carry out the intermediate handling for cross docking. Apart from the investment in equipment, delivery runs must be very precisely scheduled to satisfy a demanding customer base.

It is a high value-added service much valued by distribution networks and fitters – for them, it is the source of significant productivity gains. They no longer need personnel to unload vehicles, and they gain installation time because the products arrive close to the worksite.

 

People and know-how:

All our drivers have the French safe-driving certificate (Certificat d'Aptitude à la Conduite En Sécurité – CACES) and follow a specific delivery routine depending on the service level required. A “Delivery Quality Sheet” is given to the customer for each delivery.

Resources:

We have 10 Manitou TMT forklifts, fitted in the workshop and with a capacity of one tonne. These forklifts are located at the rear of the semi, to optimize loading capacity along the length of the floor. They are 2.4 metres wide, so that products can be unloaded as near as possible to where they will be used.

 

Shipments:

Deliveries via forklift are available in France and Belgium, for full or part consignments.
