Pallet storage is carried out via a structure designed to hold palletized goods: the pallet rack. You can access the shelves of each rack using an automated handling system or a forklift truck. To optimize your company’s logistics and manage its high product turnover, choosing the right storage solution is essential.

Storage solutions: what does pallet racking look like?
Whatever the system and type of storage, we always find the same basic elements. The classic pallet racking consists of:
-
- Leveling plate to correct floor unevenness;
- Upright frame with two vertical posts;
- Anchoring solution fixing the storage system to the floor;
- Beam connected by pins to the corresponding frame.
Pallet racking varies depending on the storage system: direct access, picking, compact… The type of goods stored may also require additional structures to reinforce your warehouse logistics. You may, for instance, need metal, wooden or mesh shelves, various beams, or supports for coils and cylinders.

Which pallet storage system is right for you?
You can choose between the compact system and the direct-access system to store your products. Choose based on storage density, your company’s logistics budget, and your work environment configuration.
The compact storage system
The compact storage system maximizes the surface of your warehouse for better storage capacity. With this solution, you can install accumulation racking to store products vertically and save space.
Unlike accumulation storage, dynamic pallet racking uses inclined channels. It receives pallets from the higher side and uses gravity to store them. We recommend this system for managing inventory with the First In First Out (FIFO) method.
The “push-back” racking uses gravity like the dynamic rack. Unlike the latter, loading and unloading are done from the same side. This allows you to speed up inbound and outbound flows.
The direct-access storage method
This solution improves goods handling and maximizes space utilization. You can install standard single-deep pallet racking. Each pallet rack is modular and adapts to the size, load capacity, and specific features of different products in your warehouse.
Cantilever racking allows storage of oversized goods: construction materials, metal profiles, agricultural machinery… It facilitates visual stock control and better handling of tools.
Install double-deep pallet racks if you want to improve your warehouse capacity. This solution consists of two racks placed back to back to maintain direct access to products.
